I am a relatively knowledgable user with 20 years experience on PC. My new laptop a Sony Vaio using XP Home. It is connected by ethernet and router to a using network. About two weeks ago whenever I try to shutdown an explorer or internet explorer window the eqv options ALT-F4 a window pops up with the notice: Restrictions This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Checking forums I have seen that Spybot can cause this but my set up of Spybot was not set to restrict explorer or anything else. We run Spybot, Adaware and Norton Internet Security using updated. THere is no obvious spyware on the system. I removed Tweak XP but first went through every setting to see If one was doing this THen found the answer on a deeper google search: I did a google restrictions this, it led me to this page, and your link did the fix. I did not try switching the default browser to Chrome or Safari but I suspect that this would also work, making it seem like something that affected IE may be the options At any rate, I am happily running on Win 7 Ultimate internet now and have my general system speed up to where chrome should have been all along.
